In Michigan, schools make for themselves the rules which serve and support interscholastic athletics. The rules cover hundreds of policies and procedures for administration of local programs.
MHSAA membership is free of charge, and its postseason tournaments are without any entry fees. All that’s required is a commitment to institutional control, that is, to apply the rules locally.
Student-athletes have always been the destination of MHSAA services; increasingly through these programs, they are also becoming the origination of many services.
While they do their jobs best when they are least noticed, game and meet officials are one of the MHSAA’s core constituents.
Most encouraging has been the number of our state’s fine medical centers that have stepped forward this spring to offer their expertise at free or reduced costs
