Membership in the MHSAA is a year-to-year process, which is just beginning for the 2011-12 school year.
Last week, blank 2011-12 MHSAA Membership Resolutions were sent to school superintendents across the state, along with a copy of the most recent MHSAA Representative Council meeting minutes and two additional pieces that can be downloaded from MHSAA.com and distributed to school district constituents:
It is anticipated that superintendents will share all of this information with their boards of education when each board acts on the MHSAA Membership Resolution, making a commitment to adopt MHSAA rules as minimum standards of eligibility and maximum limits on competition for the 2011-12 school year.
MHSAA membership is free of charge, and its postseason tournaments are without any entry fees. All that’s required is a commitment to institutional control, that is, to apply the rules locally. That’s the lifeblood of this voluntary association of schools.
