Longtime Petoskey athletic director Gary Hice and retiring MHSAA assistant director Gina Mazzolini each have served Michigan high school student-athletes for more than 30 years in ways that will continue to impact schools and athletes for years to come. In recognition of their efforts, they have been named the 2016 recipients of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Charles E. Forsythe Award.

Grandville High School has been withdrawn from the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Team Dual Wrestling Tournament, and several of its student-athletes have been withdrawn from the Individual Wrestling Tournament as a result of exceeding the limit of regular-season days of competition during the 2015-16 season.

With more than 2,000 coaching victories combined in volleyball and softball, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s Betty Wroubel is among the winningest coaches in Michigan High School Athletic Association history in both sports. But on-field success has been only a part of her significant impact on athletics as a whole over a career that’s stretched 40 years and will be celebrated Sunday, Feb. 8, when she receives the MHSAA’s 29th Women In Sports Leadership Award during the WISL banquet at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West.
