We need to put our foot back on the gas pedal of good sportsmanship in this decade. It’s not corny; it’s not trite; it’s not trivial. It’s essential to educational athletics.
Realizing the goals of even higher participation and higher standards in school sports requires not only maintaining but actually promoting essential eligibility rules.
Essential to promoting high participation with high standards in educational athletics is not only maintaining but expanding training for those who are in charge of and care for our programs.
For me, electronic media are tools to be used. For digital natives, these media just are, like the air they breathe.
Schools pay nothing to join the MHSAA or to enter MHSAA tournaments. Their obligations are not financial but administrative; and their opportunities are many . . .
Thinking on this event reminds me of what so often happens in so many places in this wonderful world of school sports.
In spite of everything that bothers us and batters us, school sports is still the best brand of youth sports in America . . . We still have what most kids and parents want in youth sports.
