I would much rather see school sports tackle a half-dozen difficult health and safety issues than spend a half-minute debating national travel and tournaments.

Only three of the MHSAA’s 750 member high schools failed to comply with that requirement for all of their head coaches. That’s progress.
For nearly a full century, the high schools of Michigan have stood in opposition to national high school athletic championships.
The task force concluded that counting minutes of contact during a practice or a week was not the best approach.
This caused me to recall that some of the discarded policies of educational athletics are working their way back in fashion.
There is more than enough travel and exposure opportunity for schools here in Michigan and Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Ontario and Wisconsin.
If I were to listen only to coaches of one sport or another, I’m likely to learn about issues that affect that sport, but not much about issues that affect other sports, or affect schools as a whole.
