EAST LANSING, Mich. – Oct. 16 – Selection Sunday officially turns the page from the regular-season in Michigan high school football to the post season, and the qualifiers and pairings for the 44th MHSAA Football Playoffs will be announced Sunday (Oct. 21) at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Detroit.

In addition to being available on the primary FOX Sports Detroit channel on cable, the Selection Sunday Show can also be viewed on the internet through the FoxSportsDetroit.com Website, and on handheld devices and television streaming devices like Roku using the FOX Sports app.

The Selection Sunday Show kicks off this year’s Football Playoff coverage on FOX, which will include an opening night game on FOX Sports Detroit-PLUS; Prep Zone games the first four weeks of the tournament on the FoxSportsDetroit.com Website and the FOX Sports app; the Eight-Player Finals live online and delayed on FOX Sports Detroit; and all eight games of the Eleven-Player Finals live on FOX Sports Detroit or FOX Sports Detroit-PLUS.  It’s all part of the second Football Week In Michigan promotion on FOX Sports.

But first, Week 9 games take place to conclude Football’s regular season; and there’s plenty of live streaming Boys Soccer District and regular season Girls Volleyball action this week on MHSAA.tv, during events being produced by participants of the School Broadcast Program.

Here’s this week’s MHSAA.tv schedule of video streams available being produced by School Broadcast Program members and the NFHS Network:  (Check this list online at MHSAA.com for updates throughout the week as SBP members schedule additional games)

The MHSAA Network’s flagship program, This Week In High School Sports, is carried on 107 over-the-air radio stations and internet audio websites as part of their weekly high school sports programming.

The five-minute program, powered by Michigan Student Aid, is in its fourth season.  The show leads off each week with feature stories from around the state from the MHSAA’s Second Half, or from network affiliated stories and interviews.  This Week Game Balls are then presented for team or individual achievements in the past week.  Be The Referee, a 60-second look at the fine art of officiating, comes in the middle of the show; and is followed by a closing MHSAA Perspective.

This week show features the Selection Sunday primer.  Game balls this week go out Clarkston football quarterback Jake Jenson; and North Muskegon soccer goalie Nick Gerstweiler.  Punts and Field Goals are the topic of Be The Referee; and the MHSAA Perspective takes a critical look at Football Playoff expansion.

This Week In High School Sports is posted to the home page of the MHSAA Website by Noon on Tuesday each week; and is also available on the MHSAA Network WebsiteYou can listen to this week’s show and check out the complete list of stations carrying the program by Clicking Here

Be The Referee is also available each week as a separate podcast.  These 60-second messages, featuring MHSAA Assistant Director Brent Rice and veteran MHSAA official Sam Davis, take a look at rules in different sports, challenge your rules knowledge with some You Make The Call questions, and pass on other information about the world of officiating.

Be The Referee is posted online by Noon Tuesday each week, and can be found on the home pages of the MHSAA Website and the MHSAA Network WebsiteYou can listen to this week’s message by Clicking Here
