EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sept. 29 – The MHSAA Radio Network hit an all-time high for affiliates last week, reaching the 89 mark of radio stations and web audio outlets carrying the weekly program This Week In High School Sports.

Many affiliates, in addition to the weekly programming during the Fall and Winter sports seasons, will carry the MHSAA Boys and Girls Basketball Finals in March, and selected audio broadcasts of championship action in baseball, football, ice hockey, soccer, softball and girls volleyball.  For a complete list of complete list of outlets carrying the program, and to listen to archived programs, visit the This Week In High School Sports page of the MHSAA Website.

This Week In High School Sports leads off this week with a feature about high school teams giving back through special nights, hands out game balls to Karina VanDuinen of Muskegon Reeths-Puffer and Dylan Fritz and David Binder of Owendale-Gagetown, and concludes with a commentary about a new study revealing how many parents hope their high school athlete will eventually go pro.

Over 50 events, including over 30 athletic broadcasts, will be put out by members of the MHSAA’s School Broadcast Program in the coming week.

The programming ranges from athletic events to school board meetings, daily student announcements and powder puff football games.  A complete list of participating schools can be found on the School Broadcast Program page of the MHSAA website.

In its seventh year, the School Broadcast Program gives members an opportunity to showcase excellence in their schools by  creating video programming of athletic and non-athletic events; with students gaining skills in announcing, camera operation, directing/producing and graphics.

The program also gives schools the opportunity to raise money through advertising and viewing subscriptions.

All sporting events – Live or On-Demand - are available on a subscription basis only for their first 72 hours online.  They become available for free, on-demand viewing approximately 72 hours following their completion.

Here’s the schedule of School Broadcast Program members planning to stream athletic  competition this week for broadcast at MHSAA.tv.  On-Demand listings may be available as soon as one hour following an event’s completion.  (List as of Sept. 29):
