EAST LANSING, Mich - Nov. 1 - The second week of the Prep Zone, and the launch of MHSAA Finals audio on your handheld device highlight the upcoming week of MHSAA Network action.

 

Each week during the Football Playoffs, the MHSAA Network will produce four games to be streamed live on FoxSportsDetroit.com.  District Final coverage this Friday (Nov. 4) at 7 p.m. has the following games on the schedule:  Saranac at Pewamo-Westphalia, Grand Rapids Catholic Central at Zeeland West, Leslie at Grass Lake, and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep at Marine City. 

 

The Prep Zone on FoxSportsDetroit.com last weekend drew over 12,000 live pageviews last Friday night, and those four games – Romeo at Troy Athens, South Lyon at Holly, Sturgis at Mason, and Saugatuck at Muskegon Catholic Central – will be available for on-demand viewing on the MHSAA.tv Website beginning this week.

 

Saturday’s (Nov. 5) coverage on MHSAA.tv and FoxSportsDetroit.com will feature all four championship game in the Lower Peninsula Boys Soccer Tournament and the Finish Line Camera at the Lower Peninsula Cross Country Finals.  Two soccer games will launch at Noon, with two other games at 3 p.m.  The actual schedule and sites will be announced following Wednesday’s (Nov. 2) Semifinal games.

 

The Boys Soccer Finals will be shown on FOX Sports Detroit-PLUS on Nov. 13 with the Division 4 game at Noon; the Division 3 match at 2 p.m.; the Division 2 finale at 4 p.m.; and the Division 1 championship at 6 p.m.

 

The Finish Line Camera returns at Michigan International Speedway, including audio commentary throughout the race from reporters around the course.  Here’s the complete race schedule:  10 a.m. – Girls Div. 4;  10:30 a.m. – Girls Div. 3;  11 a.m. – Boys Div. 4; 11:30 a.m. – Boys Div. 3; 1:30 p.m. – Girls Div. 2;  2 p.m. –  Girls Div. 1;  2:30 p.m. – Boys Div. 2;  3 p.m. – Boys Div. 1.

 

Audio of Saturday’s Boys Soccer Finals will also be available at MHSAANetwork.com, which now has a companion mobile site, making the games available for Android, Blackberry and iPhone users.  The Mobile address is:  m.mhsaanetwork.com.

 

Game Night on the MHSAA Network features Auburn Hills Avondale’s victory over Lapeer East in a Division 2 Boys Soccer Regional Final last Thursday at Fenton.   We also had a Pre-District gridiron game in Division 2 between Muskegon and Mattawan; and the Capital Area Activities Conference Gold Cup championship volleyball match between Grand Ledge and Lakewood-Lake Odessa.

 

For media outlets in Comcast service areas, here are the day by day listings for the coming week of MHSAA Network programming on Channel 900.  We would appreciate it if you could run at least the Wednesday and Thursday listings, as they are the first air times for new content each week:

In addition to these high school athletic events, there were 65 other school-produced events ranging from daily newscasts, to interviews, to school board meetings posted to the MHSAA.tv Website last week.  A total of 565 events have been posted since the beginning of the school year.  A record total of 1,479  student produced athletic and non-athletic event videos were posted to MHSAA.tv during the 2010-11 school year. 

 

The MHSAA.tv Website registered a record 1.48 million pageviews during the 2010-11 school year.  In addition, there were approximately 400,000 pageviews generated by MHSAA Network content being streamed live on FoxSportsDetroit.com.

 

Watch for more schools to begin posting more content in even more sports in the weeks ahead.  Schools interested in becoming a part of the Digital Broadcasting Program should contact John Johnson at the MHSAA Office.

 

Finally – check out the MHSAASPORTS Channel on YouTube.  The channel is being populated with game highlights and feature videos from MHSAA Network telecasts. 

 

The MHSAA Network delivers coverage of regular season and MHSAA Tournament competition across multiple platforms  -- cable television, radio and the internet – to fans of high school sports across the state and around the world.  In addition to providing content to cable partners Comcast Television and Fox Sports Detroit, the MHSAA Network features two websites – MHSAA.tv and MHSAANetwork.com – where fans can click to view or listen to content; and a radio network of over 40  stations statewide which annually carry the MHSAA Basketball Finals and the commentary MHSAA Perspective, which airs for 30 weeks during the school year.
