EAST LANSING, Mich. - Oct. 24 - The level of high school sports coverage on the MHSAA Network and its television partners hits a new peak this week with the launch of Prep Zone coverage of the MHSAA Football Playoffs on the FoxSportsDetroit.com Website.

 

Each week during the Football Playoffs, which begin this Friday (Oct. 28), the MHSAA Network will produce four games to be streamed live on FoxSportsDetroit.com.  First round coverage has the following games on the schedule:  Romeo at Troy Athens, South Lyon at Holly, Sturgis at Mason, and Saugatuck at Muskegon Catholic Central.  All of the games will be archived for on-demand viewing the following week on the MHSAA.tv Website.

 

Game Night on the MHSAA Network features Southgate Anderson’s upset of Wyandotte Roosevelt in a Downriver League football game last Friday.   We also had a District title match in the Division 1 Boys Soccer Tournament between Troy Athens and Sterling Heights Stevenson; and a key Oakland Activities Association showdown between Clarkston and Lake Orion.

 

For media outlets in Comcast service areas, here are the day by day listings for the coming week of MHSAA Network programming on Channel 900.  We would appreciate it if you could run at least the Wednesday and Thursday listings, as they are the first air times for new content each week:

The MHSAA.tv Website is being populated with content from member schools from both peninsulas participating in the Digital Broadcasting Program.  A total of 75 schools are involved in the program from the Big 8 Conference, Big 9 Conference, Detroit Catholic High School League, Charter School Conference, Downriver League, Flint Metro League, Genesee Athletic Conference, Huron League, Kalamazoo Valley Association, Kensington Lakes Activities Association, Macomb Area Conference, Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League, Northwest Conference, Oakland Activities Association, O-K Conference, Saginaw Valley League, Southeastern Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference (Big 16), Tri-Valley Conference, West-Pac Conference and the Wolverine Conference.

In addition to these athletic events, there were 30 other school-produced events ranging from daily newscasts, to interviews, to school board meetings posted to the MHSAA.tv Website last week.  A total of 557 events have been posted since the beginning of the school year.  A record total of 1,479  student produced athletic and non-athletic event videos were posted to MHSAA.tv during the 2010-11 school year. 


The MHSAA.tv Website registered a record 1.48 million pageviews during the 2010-11 school year.  In addition, there were approximately 400,000 pageviews generated by MHSAA Network content being streamed live on FoxSportsDetroit.com.

 

 

Watch for more schools to begin posting more content in even more sports in the weeks ahead.  Schools interested in becoming a part of the Digital Broadcasting Program should contact John Johnson at the MHSAA Office.

 

Finally – check out the MHSAASPORTS Channel on YouTube.  The channel is being populated with game highlights and feature videos from MHSAA Network telecasts. 

 

The MHSAA Network delivers coverage of regular season and MHSAA Tournament competition across multiple platforms  -- cable television, radio and the internet – to fans of high school sports across the state and around the world.  In addition to providing content to cable partners Comcast Television and Fox Sports Detroit, the MHSAA Network features two websites – MHSAA.tv and MHSAANetwork.com – where fans can click to view or listen to content; and a radio network of over 40  stations statewide which annually carry the MHSAA Basketball Finals and the commentary MHSAA Perspective, which airs for 30 weeks during the school year.
