EAST LANSING, Mich. – July 18 – The Finals of the MHSAA Softball Tournament will be shown to cable television viewers statewide on FOX Sports Detroit this weekend.

 

The Softball Finals of June 18 at Bailey Park in Battle Creek will be shown on FOX Sports Detroit on Saturday (July 23) on the following schedule:

Noon -  Anchor Bay v. Mattawan - MHSAA Div. 1 Final
2 p.m. - Stevensville Lakeshore v. Milan - MHSAA Div. 2 Final
4 p.m. – Frankenmuth v. Clinton - MHSAA Div. 3 Final
6 p.m. – Petersburg-Summerfield v. Unionville-Sebewaing - MHSAA Div. 4 Final (NOTE – Due to technical difficulties, this broadcast begins with the fifth inning of play)

The Baseball Finals will receive their first airing on Comcast Channel 900 on July 27, with the Division 1 game at 7 p.m., and the Division 2 game at 9:30 p.m.  On July 21, the Division 3 game will air at 8 p.m., followed by the Division 4 game at 10 p.m.

 

Spring sports coverage continues on Comcast Channel 900 and the MHSAA.tv Website.  For media outlets in Comcast service areas, here are the day by day listings for the next two weeks of MHSAA Network programming on Channel 900.  We would appreciate it if you could run at least the Wednesday and Thursday listings, as they are the first air times for new content each week:

The MHSAA.tv Website is being populated with content from member schools from both peninsulas participating in the Digital Broadcasting Program.  A total of 82 schools are involved in the program from the Big 8 Conference, Big 9 Conference, Detroit Catholic High School League, Charter School Conference, Downriver League, Flint Metro League, Genesee Athletic Conference, Huron League, Kalamazoo Valley Association, Kensington Lakes Activities Association, Macomb Area Conference, Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League, Northwest Conference, Oakland Activities Association, O-K Conference, Saginaw Valley League, Southeastern Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference (Big 16), Tri-Valley Conference, West-Pac Conference and the Wolverine Conference.

 

Athletic coverage by participating schools is completed for the 2010-11 school year

 

In addition to these athletic events, a variety of other school events ranging from concerts, to interviews, to school board meetings have been posted to the MHSAA.tv Website.  A total of 1,472  student produced athletic and non-athletic event videos have been posted to MHSAA.tv since the beginning of the school year, more than doubling last year’s total of 712. 

 

Watch for more schools to begin posting more content in even more sports in the coming year.  Schools interested in becoming a part of the Digital Broadcasting Program should contact John Johnson at the MHSAA Office.

 

The MHSAA.tv Website has generated 1.47 million pageviews recorded through July 17, surpassing last year’s total of 1.13 million views. During the 2008-09 school year, the site had 555,964 pageviews.  In addition, there have been approximately 400,000 pageviews generated by MHSAA Network content being streamed live on FoxSportsDetroit.com.

 

Finally – check out the MHSAASPORTS Channel on YouTube.  The channel is being populated with game highlights and feature videos from MHSAA Network telecasts. 

 

The MHSAA Network delivers coverage of regular season and MHSAA Tournament competition across multiple platforms  -- cable television, radio and the internet – to fans of high school sports across the state and around the world.  In addition to providing content to cable partners Comcast Television and Fox Sports Detroit, the MHSAA Network features two websites – MHSAA.tv and MHSAANetwork.com – where fans can click to view or listen to content; and a radio network of nearly 50 stations statewide which annually carry the MHSAA Basketball Finals and the commentary MHSAA Perspective, which airs for 30 weeks during the school year.
