EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sept. 16 – With two full weeks of school under their belts, MHSAA members participating in its School Broadcast Program are starting to post more and more content on the MHSAA.tv Website.
A total of 40 events were streamed last week - almost evenly split between athletic events and other activities ranging from daily announcements to school board meetings. Ten of the events were live sporting events, and one game – Coloma at Plainwell in football – showed off one of the new NFHS Network features for this year, integrated live statistics.
The School Broadcast Program gives members an opportunity to showcase excellence in their schools by creating video programming of athletic and non-athletic events; with students gaining skills in announcing, camera operation, directing/producing and graphics. The program also gives schools the opportunity to raise money through advertising and viewing subscriptions. As many as 60 MHSAA member schools annually participate in the program, which is in its sixth year.
Here’s the schedule of School Broadcast Program members planning to cover varsity competition this week for broadcast at MHSAA.tv (As of Sept. 16). The following events will be shown live on a subscription basis:
- Allendale at Comstock Park – Girls Volleyball – Tuesday, 6 p.m.
- Zeeland West at Comstock Park – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
- Houghton Lake at Clare – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
- Grand Rapids West Catholic at Comstock Park – Girls Volleyball – Sept. 23, 6 p.m.
The following events will be available following their completion via Video on Demand:
- Escanaba at Negaunee – Girls Volleyball – Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
- L’Anse and Hancock at Calumet – Girls Volleyball – Tuesday, 7 p.m.
