EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sept. 3 –  The MHSAA’s School Broadcast Program will present its top honor of the 2013-14 school year this week as part of a live video stream on the MHSAA.tv Website.

Montrose High School, which was named the SBP Program of the Year for the last school year, will be honored in halftime ceremonies during the Rams’ home football contest on Friday (Sept. 5) with Corunna at 7 p.m.  The game will be streamed live on MHSAA.tv to NFHS Network subscribers.  Subscriptions support individual school programs; and many schools are now offering discounted annual passes through their portal pages, which will also allow for live viewing of nearly 300 live MHSAA post-season tournament events throughout the school year.

In addition to the Program of the Year honor, Montrose students will also be presented plaques for the best entry in two categories of the 2013-14 School Broadcast Program Excellence Awards.  Montrose took first place in two categories:  Best Multicamera Production for a basketball game against Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary; and Best Produced Commercial/Feature for a public service announcement about texting while driving.

The School Broadcast Program gives members an opportunity to showcase excellence in their schools by  creating video programming of athletic and non-athletic events; with students gaining skills in announcing, camera operation, directing/producing and graphics.  The program also gives schools the opportunity to raise money through advertising and viewing subscriptions.   As many as 60 MHSAA member schools annually participate in the program, which is in its sixth year.

Here’s the schedule of School Broadcast Program members planning to cover varsity competition this week for broadcast at MHSAA.tv  (As of Sept. 2):
