EAST LANSING, Mich. – July 7 – Highlights from last month’s MHSAA Lower Peninsula Boys Golf Finals and the third week of "Best Of 13-14” offerings will be featured on the MHSAA.tv Website this week.
The L.P. Boys Golf Finals featured a five-way, there-hole playoff for individual medalists honors, won by Midland Dow junior Ben Roeder in Division 1; Lansing Catholic made it back-to-back titles in Division 3; and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood and White Piegon claimed titles in Division 2 and Division 4, respectively.
For eight weeks over the Summer, the MHSAA.tv Website will spotlight some of the best tournament action from the 2013-14 school year, presenting four games each week.
Each contest will be easily identified with a “Best Of 13-14” thumbnail on the home page of the MHSAA.tv Website. Here’s a look at the games which will be featured from July 7-14:
• East Lansing v. Spring Lake: 2013 Division 2 Boys Soccer Final. Ben Swanson-Ralph scores what proved to be the game-winning goal with 10 minutes left in the first half of this 2-0 victory for East Lansing.
• Saginaw Swan Valley v. Lansing Sexton: 2013 Division 4 Football Regional Final. Swan Valley junior running back Alex Grace ran for 246 yards, but the Big Reds continued to power through their tough slate by taking the lead in the fourth quarter and then ending the Vikings’ final drive with an interception in Sexton territory for a 26-21 win.
• Detroit U-D Jesuit v. Brighton: 2014 Division 1 Ice Hockey Semifinal. Brett Pietila scores in the third minute of overtime to give Brighton a 4-3 victory.
• Benton Harbor v. Milan: 2014 Class B Boys Basketball Final. Milan wins its first MHSAA title since 1948 in convincing style, 78-59.
During the course of the 2013-14 school year, over 3,000 events were produced on MHSAA.tv by PlayOn! Sports and MHSAA member schools participating in the School Broadcasting Program, covering everything from athletics to announcements to commencements to the performing arts and school board meetings.
