EAST LANSING, Mich. – June 30 – The second week of "Best Of 13-14” offerings and the debut of MHSAA Championship highlights shows from the Spring season will be featured on the MHSAA.tv Website this week.

For eight weeks over the Summer, the MHSAA.tv Website will spotlight some of the best tournament action from the 2013-14 school year, presenting four games each week.

Each contest will be easily identified with a “Best Of 13-14” thumbnail on the home page of the MHSAA.tv Website.  Here’s a look at the games which will be featured from June 30-July 7:

•  Rapid River v. Peck:    2013 Eight-Player Football Final.   Quarterback Tristen Haener connected on 12 of 16 passes for 379 yards and seven touchdowns – including four that were caught by Kyle Abrego – as Peck topped Rapid River, 67-32.

•  2014 Girls Competitive Cheer Division 1 Final:   Southgate Anderson wins its third straight MHSAA title in comeback fashion at the DeltaPlex.

•  Southfield v. Birmingham Seaholm:  2013 Division 2 Football Playoff Pre-District.  Down 16-3 with less than seven minutes to go, Seaholm rallied for a 17-16 upset of visiting Southfield.

•  Pewamo-Westphalia v. Muskegon Heights:    2014 Class C Boys Basketball Semifinal.    Nick Spitzley scored 22, and Lane Simon had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pirates over the Heights and into the Finals.

Highlights shows from the Spring sports season launching on the site this week include Upper Peninsula championships in Girls and Boys Golf, as well as Boys Tennis.  The fourth show is a highlights package from the Lower Peninsula Girls Tennis Finals.

In the U.P. Girls Golf Finals - Houghton captured the Division 1 title for the fourth straight season; Iron Mountain defended in Division 2 and gave Coach Donny Bianco a nice going-away present; and Bark River-Harris claimed the school's first title in goal with the Division 3 victory.  The U.P. Boys Golf winners were Houghton in Division 1, Hancock in Division 2, and Painesdale-Jeffers in Division 3, where Carney-Nadeau freshman took top individual honors in a playoff.  Negaunee and Ishpeming Westwood were the Division 1 and 2 champs, respectively, in the U.P. Boys Tennis.

At the L.P. Girls Tennis Finals - Grosse Pointe South claimed its second title in three years in Division 1; Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern and Birmingham Seaholm tied for top honors in Division 2; Grosse Ile won in Division 3, the school's first and first for its coach of 42 years, John Shade; and the Cranes of Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood made it four in a row in Division 4.

During the course of the 2013-14 school year, over 3,000 events were produced on MHSAA.tv by PlayOn! Sports and MHSAA member schools participating in the School Broadcasting Program, covering everything from athletics to announcements to commencements to the performing arts and school board meetings.
