EAST LANSING, Mich.  – Dec. 7 –  The fall sports season wrapped up between the lines just a few weeks ago, but the excitement lives on throughout the month of December as a variety of Michigan High School Athletic Association Finals will be shown to cable television viewers on FOX Sports Detroit and Comcast Channel 900.

On Sunday (Dec. 12), all three divisions of action from the 2010 MHSAA Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming & Diving Finals from Nov. 20 will debut on FOX Sports Detroit PLUS.  The Division 3 meet will be shown at Noon, followed by the Division 2 finals at 2:30 p.m. and the Division 1 championships at 5 p.m.

Later that week, the fall edition of the MHSAA Super Show will premiere on FOX Sports Detroit, a recap of fall finals action in cross country, golf and tennis in both peninsulas.  The Super Show will first air on Dec. 18 at 10  p.m., with additional airings on Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.; Dec. 24 at 2 p.m., Dec. 25 at 9 a.m.; Jan. 2 at Noon and Jan. 30 at Noon.

Reairings of the MHSAA Football Finals began last week on FOX Sports Detroit PLUS with Divisions 2 and 8.  On Friday (Dec. 10), the Division 6 final between Ithaca and Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central will be shown at 12:30 p.m.  On Dec. 17 at Noon, the Division 4 game between Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Williamston will be reaired; followed on Dec. 18 by the Division 7 championship between Ishpeming and Hudson and 7:30 p.m.; and the Division 3 contest pitting East Grand Rapids against Orchard Lake St. Mary’s on Dec. 19 at Noon.  The Division 1 game with Plymouth taking on Lake Orion will be shown on Dec. 22 at Noon; and the Division 5 clash between Grand Rapids West Catholic and Olivet is on at Noon on Dec. 26.

On Comcast Channel 900, the Division 8 game was shown last week.  Here are playback times for other games:

The Girls Volleyball Finals from Nov. 20 will be shown again on FOX Sports Detroit PLUS, with the Class D championship between Battle Creek St. Philip and Plymouth Christian on at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, followed by the Class C finale of Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central and St. Louis at 1:30 p.m.  On Jan. 2, the Class A match pitting Bloomfield Hills Marian against Farmington Hills Mercy will be reaired at 8 a.m.; and on Jan. 9, the Fruitport vs. North Branch battle for the Class B title will be shown at 8 a.m.  The Class D and C championships have already had their reairings on Comcast Channel 900.  The Class B match will be shown on Thursday (Dec. 9) at 8 p.m.; Friday (Dec. 10) at 8:30 a.m.; Saturday (Dec. 11) at 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday (Dec. 12) at 9 a.m.  The Class A championship will reair on Dec. 16 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m.; Dec. 18 at 10 p.m.; and Dec. 19 at 9 a.m.

The L.P. Girls Swimming & Diving Finals will be shown on Comcast Channel 900 with the Division 1 meet on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 30 at 9 a.m.; Jan. 1 & 2 at 7 p.m.; and Jan. 3 at 8:30 a.m.  The Division 2 finals will be shown on Dec. 29 at 9:30 p.m.; Jan. 1 at 3 p.m.; and Jan. 2 at Noon; while the Division 3 championships will air on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 31 at 8:30 a.m.; Jan. 1 at 9:30 p.m.; and Jan. 2 at 9 a.m.

The MHSAA Network will begin its Winter regular-season coverage the week of Jan. 2 with four basketball contests:  Girl’s games between Inkster and Detroit Renaissance, and Detroit Pershing vs. Southfield Lathrup are on the schedule; and boy’s contests will feature Flint Northwestern against Flint Beecher, and Flint Northern facing Saginaw Arthur Hill. 

The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,600 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition.  No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools.  Member schools which enforce these rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
