EAST LANSING, Mich. - Oct. 1 - MHSAA Football Friday Overtime, in its second season on FOX Sports Detroit, expands to a full hour beginning this Friday (Oct. 4), and will begin a half-hour earlier at 11:30 p.m.

Mickey York and Rob Rubick host this weekly highlights show, with highlights and scores from across the state. An encore presentation takes place Saturday’s at 10:30 a.m. Here’s where the FFOT cameras are scheduled to be this week:

There's always fresh content to watch each week on the home page of the MHSAA.tv website. Two games from the School Broadcasting Program are being featured each week, along with a package of highlights from the previous week, and a new MHSAA Classic game from year’s past is placed center stage for fans to relive again.

Through last Saturday (Sept. 22), the Student Broadcast Program had posted 237 events of all types of athletic and non-athletic events occurring between the schools involved in the program since the beginning o f the school year. There were 71 productions last week – 21 of them athletic events; the remainder programs ranging from daily announcements and news; to village meetings. Last year’s student-produced events totaled 2,474 over the entire school year.

Nearly 60 schools are involved in the School Broadcasting Program. Schools interested in becoming a part of the program should contact John Johnson at the MHSAA Office.

PlayOn! Sports coverage on Xfinity

PlayOn! Sports, an MHSAA Network television partner, will be in Grosse Pointe on Friday (Oct. 5) for an Macomb Area Conference rivalry game game between North and South High Schools. It’s the seventh of 13 games that will be featured each week by Xfinity on various platforms.

There is a schedule change for this week’s Tuesday airing. The North-South game will first air on Comcast Channel 900 on the following Tuesday at 10 p.m., following the University of Windsor-University of Michigan ice hockey game. Additional airings will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.; Saturday at 3 p.m.; and Sunday at 6 p.m. The games will be online for Xfinity subscribers at Xfinity.com/HighSchoolSports, and highlights will also be available on the Xfinity on Demand service. Here’s the upcoming football schedule:

Week 8 - Riverview at Grosse Ile, Oct. 12
Week 9 - Lowell at Grand Rapids Christian, Oct. 19

In addition, one game each week during the first four rounds of the MHSAA Football Playoffs will also be presented; and three additional fall events will also be featured.

MHSAA Perspective

Now in its eighth season is the radio commentary MHSAA Perspective, which will air on over 60 radio stations across the state, generally during the local broadcasts of high school games. The program runs for 30 weeks through the end of the winter sports season. MHSAA Perspective can also be accessed from the home page of the MHSAA Website.
