EAST LANSING, Mich. – Feb. 6 – The Michigan High School Athletic Association’s student-driven side of its video website – MHSAA.tv – has set a new record for events produced.

Through last Saturday (Feb. 4), the Student Broadcast Program had posted 1,488 events of all types of athletic and non-athletic events occurring between the 65 schools involved in the program.   Last week was one of the busiest weeks on record, with 86 events – 39 of them athletic events; the remainder programs ranging from daily announcements and news; to pep rallies, to how-to videos on scheduling classes, and signing day celebrations.  Last year’s student-produced events totaled 1,479 over the entire school year.

The Student Broadcast Program gives schools an opportunity to spread the word about all kinds of activities; gives students a taste of producing television-like programs; and also provides an opportunity for schools to attract new revenue support streams.

This week’s MHSAA Network Game Night coverage features a Southwestern Athletic Conference boys basketball game as North Division leader Bloomingdale travels to Fennville on Friday (Feb. 10).  It will be Hall of Fame Night at Fennville High School, where Wes Leonard, a standout multi-sport athlete who died following a basketball game last March, will be inducted. The MHSAA Network will stream the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies live on the MHSAA.tv website at approximately 6:45 p.m. The ceremony will take place between the junior varsity and the varsity contests.

Game Night on the MHSAA Network this week features a boys basketball game pitting two of the state’s top-ranked teams in the respective classes – Muskegon Heights at Romulus.
