The March Magic Hoopfest is an interactive, fan- and family-friendly feature of the MHSAA Girls and Boys Basketball Finals on the campus of Michigan State University.
The inaugural event during the boys Semifinals and Finals in 2009 was a success by all measures; and the event will be bigger and better and extend over two weekends in 2010 when the girls tournament returns to MSU.
Among the new features for 2010 are the “Top Shooters Challenges” – free throw and three-point shooting contests among the state’s best female and male high school players, based on statistics maintained by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM).
Preliminary rounds will be at MSU’s Jenison Field House on Saturday of the MHSAA Girls Basketball Finals (March 20) and the Boys Finals (March 27); and the championships of each shooting contest will be later in those days during the halftimes of MHSAA Championship games at MSU’s Breslin Student Events Center.
Hoopfest details can be found on the basketball pages of MHSAA.com and at marchmagichoopfest.com.
From the Director is the official MHSAA Blog which will touch on pertinent school sports topics periodically throughout the school year from various MHSAA Staff.
