There are many appropriate, effective ways to word the mission of a state high school association. For our part here in Michigan, we often say our mission is to both protect and promote school-sponsored, student-centered competitive interscholastic athletics – what we call educational athletics.
We believe we will not be successful in protecting and promoting school sports unless we greatly influence the messages being conveyed about school sports to students, parents, coaches, administrators, spectators and media. So we believe we need to be in the center of conversations about school sports. That’s an implicit goal of our organization; and it’s our explicit goal in electronic media.
We are seeking to increase engagement of our core constituents and the public with MHSAA.com and MHSAA.tv, and to establish these as the hub for all things school sports in Michigan. Recent analyses suggest we’re making progress.
According to quantcast.com measured traffic, MHSAA.com has become the nation’s most visited high school athletic association website. In early April, it was in the top one percent of more than 1,000,000 sites ranked.
During March alone, the MHSAA Facebook page was displayed or shared more than 1,000,000 times. More users found MHSAA.com by searching “MHSAA” on Facebook than on Google during March.
On any given day, MHSAA.tv has more than 300 MHSAA Network programs and 1,200 events produced by schools and posted on their branded microsites on MHSAA.tv.
This just scratches the surface. We invite you to visit and seize the opportunities to engage in both MHSAA.com and MHSAA.tv.
