There will not be an eight-player division of the MHSAA Football Playoffs in 2010. 

While interest is increasing, especially as enrollments and school sports budgets are in decline, there were not enough firm commitments for the 2010 season by the April 1, 2010 deadline the Representative Council had imposed to permit proper planning by all parties concerned.

We’re told that many school communities sponsoring 11-player football are taking a wait-and-see attitude, not wanting to announce a change from the 11- to eight-player program until the eight-player playoffs are a sure thing.

The MHSAA will continue to monitor the needs of smaller schools and will respond when there are more schools firmly committed to the eight-player game.
