Operating under the radar of all the hoopla being generated by the State of Michigan to attract the motion picture industry to our state is an MHSAA initiative creating full- and part-time jobs across the state as well as hands-on learning opportunities in the “movie biz” for high school students in Michigan.

Since late August of 2008, the MHSAA Network has produced nearly 800 events for Comcast, and now more than 1,200 are available on MHSAA.tv.

The epicenter of a digital broadcasting initiative has been the Capital Area Activities Conference where member high schools were provided the hardware, software and training, as well as a cash incentive, to produce video of local events and post them on MHSAA.tv.  Several CAAC schools ran so well with this project that they now have micro-websites on MHSAA.tv.  This includes:

Participating schools have involved both academic and activity programs in producing events, providing students experience with cutting-edge technologies.  Beginning this winter, participating schools were given the option to begin selling advertising on their micro-websites and within their student-produced games as a new way of generating revenue in these cash-strapped times for schools in general and school sports in particular.
