After years of observing trends in high schools and interscholastic sports at the amateur level, the MHSAA has grown accustomed to frequent change. Changes in scheduling, budgets, personnel, and the very rules which govern our games have all been modified and adapted to suit challenges that have arisen within educational athletics.
The most recent push on our part to promote our activities, engage our fan base, and stimulate dialogue has led to many advances within our association – most prominently demonstrated by our newly designed website. Last summer, in the initial planning stages of our MHSAA.com redesign, one topic continued to persist in discussions as an important focal point for our new and improved website: that topic being social networking.
It became apparent that there is not only a desire but a need for influential organizations to participate in the once strictly personal arena of social networking. The implementation of a MHSAA social media presence will allow for us to more quickly and efficiently ascertain the needs of our member schools, registered officials and fans alike.
The first step has already been taken (as some of you are aware): the MHSAA is now on both Twitter and Facebook. Please Follow us on Twitter or Become a Fan on Facebook and help us get our wheels turning!
In the future, our friends and fans can expect updates on upcoming events and conferences, in-game tournament scores and news media tidbits that we think you’ll find useful and interesting. We’re looking forward to participating in the always-changing and exciting world of social media, and we hope you’ll join us.
