Over the last 22 seasons, St. Ignace girls basketball coach Dorene Ingalls has built one of the most respected high school athletic programs in Michigan and become one of the most successful coaches in Michigan High School Athletic Association history, while also serving as one of the state’s most impactful advocates for her sport. To celebrate her many and continuing contributions, Ingalls has been named the 34^th recipient of the MHSAA Women In Sports Leadership Award.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association has confirmed sites for its indoor Winter sports championship rounds, including an adjustment for the Individual Wrestling Finals that will allow more fans to attend that event after an increase in spectators limits was put into effect March 5 by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

The Michigan High School Athletic Association has revised its 2021 Wrestling Tournaments, scheduled for the final three weeks of March and first weekend of April, in an effort to reduce the mixing of communities and spread of COVID-19. The MHSAA also has selected Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo as this year’s host site for the Teams Finals on March 30 and Individual Finals to be wrestled April 2-3.

Eight Members of the Representative Council of the Michigan High School Athletic Association have been re-elected to continue their service, and a ninth member has been re-appointed for a second team while a second appointee joined the Council beginning with its annual Fall Meeting on Dec. 4.
