Bronson’s Jean LaClair is best known for leading high-achieving teams for more than two decades as one of the winningest varsity volleyball coaches in Michigan High School Athletic Association history. But her impact on all athletes at her school as athletic director and influence as a statewide leader also will be celebrated when she receives the MHSAA’s 28th Women in Sports Leadership Award on March 21 at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center.

Providing information and best practices to players, parents, coaches and administrators on how best to minimize health risks is a key component of keeping student-athletes safe. The Michigan High School Athletic Association has teamed with Sparrow Health System of Lansing to better inform its member schools on such health and safety matters.

Five weekends of coverage of MHSAA Winter Championships will be featured beginning next week on the MHSAA.tv website.  The schedule begins Feb. 20-21 in Marquette with live video streaming from the Upper Peninsula Swimming and Diving Championships, and concludes on March 28 with live coverage of post-game awards and press conferences plus on-court halftime activities at the Boys Basketball Finals.

The first High Definition video streams by a participating school lead a list of over 50 sporting events on MHSAA.tv this week being produced by its School Broadcast Program.

Haslett High School will be streaming live HD video of its boys basketball games with Okemos on Tuesday (Feb. 3) and Saginaw Nouvel the following Tuesday (Feb. 10), utilizing its new in-school fiber network connections from its gymnasium to its production control room for the first time.  Haslett joins a short list of schools in the SBP which run fiber from their event facilities to a control room in another wing of the building where video production classes are taught.
