We’ve seen traditional mail be replaced by email, and we now may be watching texting, tweeting and Facebook replace email.
On a recent trip I became annoyed that I couldn’t find a morning newspaper in the hotel, when my son said, “Don’t sweat it; today’s paper has only yesterday’s news.”
For me, electronic media are tools to be used. For digital natives, these media just are, like the air they breathe.
I have Facebook, foursquare and TweetDeck apps on my IPhone. I’ve loaded more than 48 hours of music on my IPod. I Skype with my son and daughter-in-law in China.
Operating under the radar . . . is an MHSAA initiative creating full- and part-time jobs across the state as well as hands-on learning opportunities in the “movie biz” for high school students in Michigan.
My counterparts in other states have been surprised to learn that I maintain a blog on the MHSAA website, with fresh entries twice each week, which I actually write myself.
It became apparent that there is not only a desire but a need for influential organizations to participate in the once strictly personal arena of social networking.
