Generally events must be sanctioned by the MHSAA or the NFHS when they are co-sponsored or co-titled by a non-member school OR a multi-state or multi team event (multi meaning more than three teams or states). The MHSAA requires the sponsoring entity submit a letter 30 days prior to the event stating the following: The name of the event and sponsor, all participating teams, the name a designated MHSAA Member School administrator who will connect to the event, a statement that the sponsor will use MHSAA registered officials and follow all regulations. Consult the full context of the regulation and the national federation web site www.nfhs.org/sanctioning for other events.
