Let The Games Begin!

When I speak of the Four S’s in school sports, the first S – Scholarship – sometimes gets drowned out by its plural version – Scholarships.

Educational athletics  support the academic mission of our schools – Scholarship – in the classroom.  Together, they develop well-rounded young people and tomorrow’s community leaders.
Too often, our games get looked at as a vehicle to college athletic scholarships, something that only comes to 1 to 3 percent of the participants.  The fact is, there’s many  times more financial aid available to young people through non-athletic channels.

It’s in developing young men and women who shine in the classroom and on the playing surface that our games have value.  As we begin our way down the tournament trail, we hope you appreciate what these games are really about.
