A one-hit shutout by senior Becky Gray combined with six Mason County Eastern errors
helped Burr Oak to its second consecutive MHSAA softball championship, a 10-0 win in
Division IV. Gray, who also pitched the Bobcats to a 6-0 win over Kingston in last year's
title game, struck out 12 Mason County Eastern hitters and walked just one in going the
distance. Burr Oak (39-2) broke a 0-0 tie with three runs in the second, helped along by
a pair of wild pitches and two errors. Gray and junior second baseman Christy Hollar led
the hitting attack with two hits each, while senior third baseman Tracy Jennings drove in
two runs. Mason County Eastern ends the season 27-5.
